Brebes Salted Eggs as a Shelf Stable Local Food for Disaster Logistics from a Cultural Perspective

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of salted eggs from Brebes as local durable food for disaster logistics from a cultural perspective. The study is important because disaster food logistics in Indonesia are still dominated by industrial food products, while local food has strategic value in terms of cultural acceptance and community resilience. This research used a qualitative approach with content analysis methods on online news and digital publications discussing the distribution of salted eggs as flood disaster aid in several regions of Indonesia, especially Sumatra. The findings show that salted eggs are represented as practical, durable, easy-to-distribute food with high cultural acceptance among affected communities. In addition, salted eggs also reflect local wisdom, social solidarity, and the potential empowerment of local MSMEs in disaster management. Therefore, local food based on cultural values has the potential to support a more sustainable disaster logistics system in Indonesia.
